HUNTEX 2017

April/May 2017

Perfect Laser took our own stand at Huntex this year where we displayed our 30 Watt fiber laser and 80 Watt CO2 laser. We also had some great giveaways that were personalised on site and taken home by visitors to the show.

Our fiber laser attracted everyone who walked past. We did a variety of engraving onto people's own knives, leathermans, watches and more.

Visitors were impressed with the short amount of time it took to design and perform their requested designs onto their desired items, the fact that they could choose the exact design they wanted, as well as the excellent end quality of the product.

See you at next year's Huntex!

DOES YOUR PORTFOLIO LOOK LIKE THIS?

The importance of building a portfolio.

Building a portfolio of your products and services is one of the most important contributors to your business success.
I spent a few days last week week visiting clients who have Perfect Laser machines and I was thoroughly impressed by the efforts to build up a saleable product range. Speaking to the Perfect Laser machine owners, it was clear that there is a 100% correlation between portfolio development and business success. So get going - your success lies in your hands and brain.

PERFECT LASER AT HUNTEX 2016

April 2016, Huntex, Johannesburg.

Perfect Laser helped out one of our clients with their stand at Huntex 2016. We were amazed. 4 halls, 400 exhibitors. Firearms, knives, ammunition and telescopic sight stands wherever you looked. We had no idea how big the hunting industry is. Nor were we ready for the amount of visitors who wanted everything movable/valuable engraved. It just proves what we have maintained all along. The market for personalisation is probably the fastest-growing segment of the laser industry.

A fun time was had by all!

ONGOING COSTS AND MACHINE MAINTENANCE

Clients often mention the issue of ongoing costs. There are two main costs that will crop up. The first one is laser tube life which is rated at 200 hours plus (We would rather understate than overstate tube life). This can be extended dramatically by limiting the tube power output to 80%. To work out the cost just divide the tube cost by 20,000 hours and you will get a cutting cost per hour (not standby) from R225 for a 40W to about R500 for a 100W.

The other cost is the occasional replacement of mirrors (usually 3 per machine) and lens. This can be expensive and range from at least R250 per mirror and R800 per lens. This can be also be extended and almost eliminated by regular cleaning. You will be shown how to do this when taking delivery of your machine.

WHAT TO CHARGE?

This is a difficult question. Most bureaus who offer laser cutting as a service charge around R400 per hour. The true cost however is your software proficiency skill as this will give you the desired output sooner with fewer samples. Keeping a sheet of power settings with materials used for each type of project will also boost efficiencies. Emotional products such as wedding invitations and trophy engraving yield the highest profit.

LASER POWER VS SPEED

A visual look at the relationship between cutting speed and power settings. For more information about cutting speeds, power settings and materials used please visit our support section. If you have any technical queries related to a machine please Contact Us and we will do our best to help.

PERFECT LASER PLT 960 CUTS 12MM PINE EASILY

Clients often ask how deep our lasers can cut. The most important considerations are the laser power, depth, type of material and cutting speed. Lesser considerations would be the focal length (adjusting the Z Axis) to lower the focal point and the number of cutting passes. Two cutting passes will cut deeper than one pass for example. At all times the trade off between burning the material and power/speed/number of passes need to be considered.
